Trailer Round Up – 3rd Edition
Well another week has come and gone and another batch of new trailers has seen the light of day. This week was a lot slower then the few previous for new trailers so I’ve got a couple small screen and revamps added in to fill out the post. This weeks roster sheds light on the obsessive pervy old man obsession of Hook and Pan, details the adventures of Ford, Wilde and Craig as they ride against some other worldly visitors, dives into the mind of a Mormon raping beauty queen, observes vampire sex destroying buildings, and shows us what a Doctor looks like turned vampire hunter. Well, lets get into it after the jump.
First up this made for tv production of the story of peter pan and Captain hook, Neverland from Skymovies and eventually to appear on SyFy as well presents a look at the true beginnings of the characters and possibly, though unlikely as we all know whats up, reason why the old man Hook has an obsession for the young boy peter. Taking on the roll of the young Peter Pan is Charlie Rowe who you might remember as one of the kidnapped gypsy boy from Golden Compass and at his opposite in the role of James Hook, the talented Rhys Ifans, known for many roles over the years including: HP:Deathly Hallows Part 1, Hannibal Rising, and Little Nicky. Rounding out the cast are Anna Friel(Land of the Lost) as Captain Elizabeth Bonny, Keira Knightley(Pirates of the Caribbean) as Tinker Bell, and returning to the role of Smee the one and only, Bob Hoskins. We also can see the appearance of Charles Dance(Game of Throne’s Tywin Lannister) in the trailer.
In an attempt to reiterate just how “badass” the latest Jon Favreau directed picture Cowboys and Aliens is, a lengthy TV spot trailer found its way to viewiers during the Spike Guys Choice Awards earlier this week. The trailer is much of the same as the previous, Craig is the amnesiac with the Alien weapon slapped on his arm, Ford is the crazy Col. obsessed with Craig, and Wilde is the sex appeal to add to all the explosions and mayhem going on.
Making buzz from Sundance, Tabloid tells the story of Miss Wyoming Joyce McKinney who grew to notoriety for the alleged drugging and kidnapping of a recent Mormon convert, Kirk Anderson, and then tie him up and raped him until the Mormon brainwashing was out of his system. Well the whole thing seems confusingly humorous to me at the time McKinney was ravaged by the tabloid media and painted out as the clear evil that she must be, this film however is to be her forum, and it looks hilarious and intriguing.
Now, as it was the MTV Awards, and like Spike wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to pull in some money and help target a films intended demographic, they aired the trailer for the next installment of the twilight saga, The Twilight saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1. Why part 1? Clearly they needed time to repair the set after the building shattering vampire sex scene.
To round out the week we have the latest trailer, also from the MTV Awards, for the upcoming remake of Fright Night with Colin Ferrell, Anton Yelchin, Mclovin(Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and David Tennant. Well Tennant has been oddly abscent from the previous trailers, we get to see him in all his Dr. Who… I mean Criss Angel:Vampire Fighter looking glory!
